Gender Equality Initiative
Empower a Woman, Empower a Generation!
At AIM Foundation, we believe in creating pathways for women to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. One of the most impactful ways we do this is through our Sui Dhaga Unit at the Kolkata Activity Centre, located at Sarala Punyashram. This initiative offers women the opportunity to learn and perfect the art of sewing and stitching, providing them not only with a valuable skill but also a sense of empowerment and purpose.
Manish Chandra De Tarafdar Centre for Women Empowerment in Sarala Punyashram, Kolkata, provides advanced training in embroidery, stitching, and cutting. This state-of-the-art livelihood centre is set to launch commercial production, with trained students' creations sold at the Krishti sales counter and online, putting income directly into their hands.
The Sui Dhaga Unit is more than just a sewing center; it is a space where women can come together, build confidence, and foster a sense of community. The training provided goes beyond teaching basic stitching techniques, focusing on equipping women with skills to turn their craft into a sustainable livelihood. Through this unit, we aim to create opportunities for women to support themselves and their families through their own hard work and creativity.
In addition to hands-on training in sewing, the Sui Dhaga Unit emphasizes the importance of digital literacy. Participants are taught how to use online platforms to showcase and sell their handmade products. This opens up access to a global marketplace, allowing these women to reach customers far beyond their local communities. Project CommuniCare focuses on enhancing women's business potential by providing comprehensive communication skills training. Participants learn to effectively engage with customers, manage online sales, and grow their businesses. This initiative equips women with the tools they need to navigate the digital economy successfully. By building their confidence and professional skills, the program empowers women to achieve financial independence. Ultimately, it helps them create a brighter and more sustainable future for themselves and their families.
Project SheConnects empowers women by providing comprehensive digital literacy training, enabling them to promote their businesses on social media and sell products online effectively. The initiative equips participants with essential skills to leverage technology for economic growth and independence. To ensure safe navigation of the digital world, we conduct awareness sessions on cyber safety and digital security. These sessions build confidence and teach women how to protect themselves and their ventures online. Through this holistic approach, Project SheConnects fosters financial independence and digital empowerment, paving the way for a brighter future.
At AIM Foundation, we believe that by empowering women with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, we can create a ripple effect that leads to lasting change. The Sui Dhaga Unit is just one example of how we’re working to build a more self-reliant, resilient, and empowered community of women.
